West Runton

1377

Quite expressive cliffs and sky. Couldn't be sure originally whether to include figures or not as without any could be a rather scxene. But thyen chose otrherwise.

Ice-skaters, Forum, Norwich

1024

At the time it felt that this was really me approaching that elusive goal in painting - even though I'm not sure what that is.
Very difficult but went well and finished in less than one and a half hours.

Interior, Dorset

1399
No comment.

Cornwall - near St.Ives

836
Painted this scene on a very windy day, placing my easel on the edge of a cliff.
Wonderful colours in the sea and sky.

"The Window" and shops

1409

I'd looked around for ages to find a good scene but finally realised this was it.
Difficult to paint the corner where two streets meet.
Kept it fairly minimalist with little detail in the windows.

Trees, Earlham Road, Norwich

1387 - painted Nov. 2011

Painted from my photo, mostly in one quick session but adding more the next day. I think it's expressive and very startling.
I used quite a lot of strong blue on the trees which some would say it's "wrong", but I thinkn it works.

London Street, Norwich

1376 - Painted Sept. 2011

"The Window" cafe, Norwich

1303 Painted Oct.2010 - Not for sale

The Window is probably the smallest cafe in Britain, possibly in the world.
Painting worked well, expressive and loose.

Ffestiniog, N. Wales

1400
This was painted from a photo of mine. Painted over 3 separate sessions.

Wells Harbour

1185 Painted July 2009
An extremely complicated and detailed subject that it would be impossible to paint a mere illustration - which suits me. A very vibrant and spontaneous painting, partly because of the above but also because I deliberately and consciously painted quickly.

Farmers' Market Norwich Dec 2011

1390

Very expressive. Church is very difficult because of all the detailed structure so after a while I again gave up trying and painted whatever and however I felt.

Cromer

1372 Painted August 2011

Cloudy day initially, gradually becoming hot and sunny. Very difficult, especially the buildings-so much detail to paint. Felt quite pessimistic about how it was working but the began to work. In the end I got so fed up trying to get the buildings "right" that I did almost anything and it workrd really well!
