About Me

My photo
Leon Bunnewell
I am a self-taught artist, painting for love, passing ‘A’ level Art in 1996. I nearly always work outside, “on the spot”, throughout the year in all weathers. I paint quite quickly in a single session, working loosely, colourfully and often vigorously. I aim for spontaneity and freshness so as to create a painting with character, personality and feeling; I also hope to describe how the subject behaves and feels, not just how it looks. I continually attempt increasingly difficult and challenging subjects and different techniques, hoping to reach some unknown goal. I often depict scenes where I feel there is quite a lot of activity and those in which I sense some kind of uniqueness, hoping to give an overall impression of the subject and its elusive nature. My subjects include beach scenes, landscapes, and street scenes (often at night). My main medium is oils, although for several years had been acrylics. I have also used watercolours and pastels and have many pencil drawings. I'd be very interested in reading any comments posted to me. Most paintings are for sale(unless stated otherwise) via email address: leonbunnewell@talktalk.net
